, entertainment

Great quality content is regularly released on various OTT platforms for movie lovers to enjoy. The back-to-back festive occasions of Independence Day, Varamahalakshmi Puja, Onam, and Raksha Bandhan, fuelled these releases across many languages. The best part of watching content on OTT is the facility to enable subtitles in the language of your choice, to relish movies and shows in languages unknown to you. Some content is also available in only audio and can be viewed without subtitles. Check out the below movies for some wonderful movie-viewing experiences across two different genres.

Shershaah (Genre – War Movie/Patriotic)

If you are in a patriotic mood, there is nothing better than this to pick for an overall good cinematic experience. This movie is the biopic of the Kargil hero Captain Vikram Batra, who attained martyrdom at the young age of 24, during the capture of Point 4875. He was awarded the Param Veer Chakra posthumously.

Shershaah captures the essence of Captain Vikram Batra’s life beautifully, as confirmed by his family, according to news reports. It’s a poignant story that speaks of his bravery, patriotism, and also his love interest, Dimple, whom he wanted to marry.

Sidharth Malhotra has given a credible performance as Captain Vikram Malhotra, and Kiara Advani does well as Dimple. The war scenes have also been realistically shot and keep us fully engrossed. A sensitive subject has been beautifully captured by - the writer Sandeep Shrivastava and director Vishnuvardhan. But why is this movie called Shershaah? To know more, please do watch this on Amazon Prime Video, released on 12th August, just ahead of Independence Day.

Home (Genre- Family/Drama)

There is no place like home; we all love our homes, and it is the one place where we can be what we want to be without any inhibitions. But can this home help bridge the gap between the highly tech-savvy youngsters and their not-so-tech-savvy parents? The Malayalam movie Home approaches this sensitive subject in a beautiful story weaved with some lovely relatable characters. The story revolves around Oliver Twist, whose elder son is a celebrity writer whose first movie was a super hit. His second son in his teens is a wannabe YouTuber who keeps streaming his life live all the time. Oliver Twist, however, spends his time taking care of his old father and his garden with the same amount of love and care.

Oliver, who uses an old feature phone, is amazed by his friends, who use a smartphone to keep in touch with their kids through video calls, WhatsApp, etc. How does Oliver’s quest to upgrade so that he can be at ease with his sons turn out? This aspect brings out some unexpected twists and turns in his family and their intertwined lives. How does Oliver Twist redeem himself in the eyes of his elder son, who looks down on him for his simple and ordinary life? A surprising, heart-warming climax lends this story the absolute must-watch reviews it has been receiving across many sections of the media. Believable, lovable, you feel at home with Home. To solve Oliver Twist’s mystery, watch Home on Amazon Prime.

Oliver Twist, played by Surendran Kochuvelu, better known by his stage name Indrans, is an actor with some great performances to his credit. Written and directed by Rojin Thomas, each character of the movie Home plays their role brilliantly. It proves why you only need some simple stories of ordinary people told well, to make a great movie.
